Objetivo del proyecto
Reduce the vulnerability and maintain the dignity of Venezuelan migrants in Peru before health emergency situation (COVID-19).
Grupo de impacto
Venezuelan migrant population in a situation of vulnerability in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Innovación
The access of the migrant population to suitable and new banking products in the market, without prejudice to their irregular status in the country. Barriers that endangered the arrival of multipurpose transfers to selected beneficiaries were overcome.
Modelos efectivos
The alliances previously formed by CARE made possible the design customized banking products for the project.
Aprendizajes
- The agreements previously signed with banking entities allow rapid intervention in emergency situations. Having a list of pre-identified actors is key to achieving these agreements. These, in turn, allow CARE to negotiate measures to include migrants in the banking system.
- Although it was a rapid 45-day intervention, a broader communication protocol could be established involving protection specialists for the referral of cases.
- The exchange of experiences between humanitarian aid organizations generates more effective alternatives to serve the migrant population. The Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela was key to achieving this exchange.
