Native-Amazonian communities that are located in the buffer zone of the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve, National Association of Administration Contract Executors (ANECAP), National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sernanp) and the executor of the administration contract of the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve (ECA-RCA).

Objetivo del proyecto

Improve the living conditions of the indigenous population of RCA by strengthening their capacities for community management, their political participation, and the lasting increase of the ecological production of Brazil nuts. All this while indigenous organizations promote and demand, in an effective way, positive improvements for the region of Madre de Dios through their lobbying and advocacy work.

Indigenous women and men from the native communities of the Amarakaeri Reserve.


The identification of a forest species with potential for commercialization, development of the value chain and connection to the market. In addition, part of the income received by the community is used to train community guards who carry out protective actions against illegal mining and deforestation. Another part of the resources is used for family farming and the planting of more chestnut trees.

Fortalecimiento de la sociedad civil

Strengthening the capacities of indigenous organizations from the joint formulation of a training plan that includes knowledge in the exercise of indigenous rights and duties.

Co-management of the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve, communal management, organizational leadership, and exercise of dialogue in identified social conflicts.

The identification of activities with native communities and the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (Sernanp).


  • In projects of an Amazonian geographic scope, where aspects such as difficult accessibility, multiculturalism and illegal activities converge, it is necessary to have a close accompaniment that allows reducing risks associated with the complexity of the context.
  • It is necessary to articulate the marketing strategy with PROMPERÚ to improve export possibilities.
  • All the actions that are carried out must be incorporated as full life agreements within the life plans of the native communities and the master plan of the protected natural area, including the adaptation measures resulting from the application of the CARE methodology of analysis. Community-Based Vulnerability Assessment (CVCA).
