National Center for Estimation, Prevention and Reduction of Disaster Risk (Centro Nacional de Estimación, Prevención y Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres - Cenepred), National Institute of Civil Defense (Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil - Indeci), Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) and private institutions. The executing consortium was made up of COOPI, Radio Cutivalú and CARE Peru.

Objetivo del proyecto

Contribute to building the resilience of vulnerable communities and institutions in areas exposed to adverse and recurring hydrometeorological hazards in Peru.

Grupo de impacto

Population affected by the Coastal Child Phenomenon 2017 and institutional beneficiaries. For the selection of the intervention communities, a diagnosis of the affected and affected population was carried out.

Fortalecimiento de la sociedad civil

Development of meetings, workshops and other work sessions in the communities that allowed informing, strengthening, and improving people’s capacities on issues that favored their personal, family and community growth linked to disaster risk management (DRM) and protection of their livelihoods.

Modelos efectivos

The empowerment of vulnerable women in the different components of the project.


  • Select business ideas that involve the participation of men in order to make them participate and integrate masculinity issues due to the strong local machismo.
  • The preparation of risk management plans requires inputs that must be previously worked on, such as risk estimates, information on available resources, information on backgrounds of phenomena that have occurred, etc.
