Objetivo del proyecto

Promote the integral wellness of the students of the multigrade EIs from the regions of Amazonas, Cajamarca, Huánuco, and Pasco.

Grupo de impacto

Monolingual multigrade and single-teacher primary level students, from the first to the sixth grade of primary school (6 to 12 years old) from rural communities in poverty. The students live between 1 to 4 hours from the capital of the districts and their learning (Communication and Mathematics) is below the national standards.

Innovación

Emotional education with a focus on life skills is part of one of the strategies of the education axis at CARE Peru. This strategy allows the participants, from early childhood, to develop their life plan, self-esteem, capacities related to equal opportunities and entrepreneurship. This allows breaking the cycle of poverty in the future and ensuring a generation that promotes equality in all its expressions.

Modelos efectivos

The socio-emotional tele-support strategy allows to reach the students remotely through phone calls made by the psychologists of the project. This strategy makes possible to monitor health, learning and emotional state of the participants.

Aprendizajes

  • The project did not have strategies to implement remote activities, but as a result of COVID-19, the decision was made to work on emotional education and health remotely promoting the integral wellness of students, families, and teachers.
  • Due to COVID-19, the communities participating in the project banned people from outside their communities. In this sense, the project had to identify which actors to work with to reach the students remotely, these actors being the community education agents.
  • The project did not have interactive educational materials aimed at rural students, but as a result of distance education, self-learning cards were created with a game-based methodology in order to promote the autonomous learning of the students.
